ACSP EP Primary 4 Math: My Treasure Map

Students in Primary 4 Mathematics class ran a fun activity called “My Treasure Map” on 4 August 2023. This activity focused on the map functions of position, movement, and angles. It was also an opportunity for cross-curricular learning between the Mathematics, Social Studies, and English departments, to further develop students.

Primary 4 drew their treasure maps with the proper elements such as grid references, compass rose, key locations, and map legend. The students then presented it to their teacher and received high scores from these criteria: presentation clarity, speech delivery, and creativity of their treasure story.

Cross-curricular learning allows for more inter-connected lessons between subjects, that capture students' imaginations. It enables students to recognize information patterns between subjects or elements, which will help facilitate knowledge and improve student recall and retention of information.
