Secondary 4 Biology: Osmosis, is this Hypertonic or Isotonic?
English Program is committed to provide active learning to EP learners. Secondary 4 students studied the Behavior of the plant’s cell membrane in the hypertonic and isotonic solution with their biology teacher, Mr. Bogdan Pangin, 25 May 2022.
The students loved this lab activity, it is important especially for students who would like to pursue courses in Botany/ Agriculture in the future. Understanding this lesson will help them understand why maintaining this balance of water and solutes is essential for the health of the plant. If a plant is not watered, the extracellular fluid will become isotonic or hypertonic, causing water to leave the plant's cells. This results in the plant’s wilting.
The learners are looking forward to more interesting lab activities in the future.
